Pastor Clint Coffey
Pastor Clint enjoys a special connection to First Christian Church Athens as his mother grew up in this church. Pastor Clint was raised in Decatur, Al where he joined the Decatur First Christian in April of 1988. After attending the University of Alabama he won a scholarship to attend the Assemblies of God seminary in Springfield, MO. This experience helped him appreciate the diversity within the body of Christ. He was ordained a Disciple minister in the Decatur Christian Church in April of 1999. Since then he has served the Valhermoso Springs Christian church and the Odessa First Christian church. He also worked at a halfway house for seven years. Pastor Clint is married to Anna Shirey. They have two children Shirey and Raiden. Pastor Coffey enjoys spending time with his family and riding his motorcycle.
Elders and Deacons
The Elders and Deacons of First Christian Church Athens play pivotal roles in the church. Both are elected by the congregation. Elders share in the ministry of baptism, help to serve the Lord's supper, conduct the worship, and share in the pastoral care and leadership of the congregation. Deacons help with ministry of baptism, support the Lord's Supper by taking it from the Lord's table to the congregation, gather tithes, and provide general support to the congregation.

First Christian Church Athens is a board-led organization meaning that all church business decisions are made by the board. The board is composed of Elders, Deacons, and various other members of the congregation. Any participating member of the congregation is welcome to attend and will have a voice at the table..
